Sizzla Kalonji clarified that he and DJ Khaled did not fall out over money

Reggae artist Sizzla Kalonji clarified that he and DJ Khaled did not fall out over money after he was seen burning plaques from their collaboration. In December 2022, Sizzla accused Khaled of “insulting” him by displaying his name in a small font on a plaque. He expressed that the size of his name was a matter of respect, emphasizing that his name represents Jamaica.

Sizzla explained on The Fix podcast that the issue was not about business but respect. He felt disrespected by the small font size of his name on the plaque.

Sizzla, who is the godfather of Khaled’s eldest child, noted that he hadn’t contacted Khaled directly about the issue, as he believed it should be self-evident.

While acknowledging Khaled’s efforts to reach out, Sizzla stated that his frustration was about being properly recognized. He hinted at a broader issue of respect for Jamaican artists, suggesting that Khaled had not featured on any of his tracks despite their agreement. Sizzla called for greater respect and unity in the music industry, emphasizing the significance of proper recognition for Jamaican artists.
